Role Description

We are seeking a full-time employee who can take ownership of our communications and PR efforts. We are a high-performing team of data scientists, designers, and engineers, working with some of the largest enterprises in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. Your work will be hugely impactful in expanding the reach of this remarkable pool of talent!


We help clients solve high-impact problems by building AI and data platforms. As a Communications and PR Associate, you are expected to be a creative and effective communicator and storyteller. You will be working with our Marketing & Creative Manager in coming up with effective communications for our marketing initiatives and taking our partnerships and PR engagements to the next level as we push for expansion in Southeast Asia.


You are expected to help solidify Thinking Machines’ tone and voice, deliver communications tailored to different audiences in a wide range of communication channels effectively, and cultivate productive partnerships with existing and new partners.


Since the tech space can get crazy, we are looking for someone who is up for any challenge and has the initiative to seek out ways to be useful. We expect you to have the drive to learn and develop the skills that are needed to build our marketing and PR capabilities. We move fast, and we expect you to keep up!

Duties

The Communications and PR Associate will be working with the Marketing & Creative Manager and is expected to:

  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute PR initiatives that support our overall marketing strategy

  • Build new partnerships while leveraging and nurturing existing ones

  • Work with a PR agency in handling and supervising all PR aspects in a potential crisis situation

  • Establish relationships with key media outlets and publications

  • Craft a communications pieces for various marketing initiatives as needed

  • Manage the content pipeline and ensure consistent rollout of high quality content to drive engagement and lead generation

  • Write press releases, blog posts, and case studies

  • Grow and engage our customer database through email campaigns

  • Respond to business inquiries and social media queries

  • Prepare communication materials for internal and external engagement

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who meets the following profile:

  • Strong external communication skills - Your main job will be to communicate Thinking Machines’ suite of products and services to a business-minded audience. From partnership calls and PR engagements, you’ll need to know how to translate the technicalities of data science to the language of a non-technical business audience.

  • Burning curiosity about data - Don't freak out when you're asked to look at datasets, visualizations, or a straight up number mess. We want you to be excited in digging through what lies inside the mess.

  • Quick learning agility - You must learn. You're not expected to know everything, but we expect you to fill in the gaps quickly, with guidance from our leadership team. You'll be part of a very talented team, make sure to learn something new everyday!

  • Open communication skills - We’re a team that relies on each other for ideas and double-checking. We appreciate tactfully opinionated people.

  • Strong sense of initiative - There are many things to do from all sides! See something you can help with, but we haven't assigned you on? Do it.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or equivalent relevant experience

  • Must have a good knowledge of marketing, PR, and communications principles and tactics

  • Strong verbal and written communication

  • Impeccable presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Strong grammar, writing, and editorial skills

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Organized and highly independent


Huge plus for people who:

  • Have one or two years experience in marketing communications

  • Demonstrated interest in tech or having worked for a tech company

  • Have a love for writing demonstrated through past work, blog posts, and articles
