Role Description

The Talent Development Associate will be part of the Talent Development Team, under Thinking Machines’ Growth Team. The Growth Team is the organization’s sales arm which encompasses multiple functions and subteams: Consultative Sales, Marketing, Talent Development, Relationship Management, Enterprise Solutions Engineering, and Data Strategy Consulting. Overall, the team drives sustainable growth for Thinking Machines by finding business opportunities and matching clients’ needs with leading-edge data solutions.


The Talent Development Team’s core responsibility is to manage, equip, and develop a pool of strong tech consultants, and improve employee retention and engagement, and overall sales effectiveness within the Growth Team. They do this by ideating, executing, and measuring the effectiveness of upskilling programs for tech consulting and sales roles– specifically for Data Strategy Consultants, Enterprise Solutions Engineers, and Relationship Managers. 


Working closely with the Talent Development Manager, the Talent Development Associate will be able to:


  • Support in driving professional and technical development of tech consulting and sales roles in the Growth Team

  • Collaborate with key Growth Team stakeholders and the VP for Growth to identify and prioritize learning and training needs of the team

  • Co-develop an overall learning and development (L&D) strategy and approaches with the TM Operations Team (L&DOps)

  • Manage L&D initiatives and projects end-to-end:

    • Develop and execute project plans, including timelines, resource requirements, and budgets

    • Evaluate the success and impact of initiatives and make data-driven recommendations for improvements

  • Own and drive the onboarding program of the Growth Team

    • Maintain up-to-date onboarding materials

    • Execute and pace onboarding training and asynchronous learning of new hires

    • Ensure new hires engage in sessions, sustain study of asynchronous learning materials (e.g. decks, recordings, threads), attend regular team meetings, and adapt and comply with company policies

    • Coordinate and secure learning and training opportunities with relevant internal and/or external subject matter experts

    • Regularly collect data and feedback from new hires and key stakeholders on program effectiveness in improving time-to-productivity of new hires

    • Conduct process reviews regularly and improve the onboarding processes based on feedback and business needs

  • Manage administrative tasks to support the Talent Development Manager

    • Ensure updated and effective tracking of Talent Team projects and staffing assignments

    • Support staffing operations by monitoring project timelines and inflow of deals across industry pods

    • Monitor Talent Team activities and ensure alignment with individual development goals and role expectations and skills matrices

  • Co-drive culture building through planning and execution of regular employee retention and engagement initiatives

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in Learning & Development or Talent Development

  • Strong project management skills for planning and executing learning and training programs

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills: excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as you will be interacting with stakeholders at all levels of the Growth and Operations Teams

  • People-oriented, with the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships and have a genuine interest in supporting team and individual goals, and engaging with a large team

  • No coding experience or skill is required for this position


High preference for candidates that have:

  • Background or knowledge in instructional design, corporate training methods, or adult learning principles
